Preparing and cooking meals can take a lot of time.

Moley Robotic Kitchen

Meet Moley Robotic Kitchen, which can cook a full meal from scratch and even wash up afterwards. It is programmed to cook more than 5,000 different meals, and has learned how to cook from professional chefs.

As a chef cooks, their movements are recorded using sensors on their arms. After making several calculations, Moley translates these movements into step-by-step actions of its own.

It controls the amount of ingredients it uses, and therefore, the portion sizes of the meals it can make. Users can even select recipes that cater to different dietary requirements.

With the click of a button, anyone, no matter their abilities, can have help to make fresh meals.

Canada is currently experiencing its worst season of wildfires on record.

There are hundreds of different fires burning across Canada. And thousands of residents are likely to be evacuated.

Now the smoke from these fires is spreading hundreds of miles, into the United States. In New York, an orange haze has blanketed the city, and residents have been advised to wear masks if they can’t stay indoors. Even the Statue of Liberty is hidden from view. More than 600 US firefighters have gone to Canada to help tackle the blazes.

Experts believe that a particularly warm and dry spring has contributed to the scale of these wildfires. And if global warming continues increasing, incidences of similar weather and wildfires will likely rise.

And finally…

Saildrone USV

Saildrone Uncrewed Surface Vehicles, or USVs, are a fleet of ocean drones which explore oceans and map the seafloor.

One of the biggest finds made yet was off the coast of California, where using sonar imaging, a Saildrone Surveyor identified a previously undiscovered mountain hidden in the deep sea.

Because the USVs do not have a crew onboard, it means they have been able to explore dangerous environments.

One of the smaller Saildrone vehicles, called the Explorer, was able to gather scientific data and record the first ever footage from inside the eye of a Category 4 hurricane. This allowed scientists to observe the changing conditions in the ocean when wind speeds rapidly increase. These observations and new data collected have helped improve hurricane forecasting techniques.

As Saildrone’s fleet continues to explore our vast oceans, scientists hope to learn even more about the weather and the ocean floor.
