And meet the transforming robot…

First up…

The world is getting hotter. To help us keep cool, we might use more air conditioning, but that requires lots of energy. Now, scientists have found an alternative.

This is the whitest paint ever made. When painted onto the outside of a building, it helps to cool it down.

Buildings warm up because they absorb sunlight. But this new white paint stops this by reflecting 98% of the sun’s rays.

The paint does such a good job at reflecting sunlight that it’s more powerful than a standard air conditioner, and can reduce the surface temperature of a building by up to 10 degrees Celsius.

By painting buildings with the new white paint, and using less air conditioning, we can reduce the amount of energy we use from fossil fuels.

That’s pretty cool!

Snakes have a fearsome reputation, and many people are scared of them. Unfortunately, the fear of snakes and other reptiles may be contributing to their extinction.

A new scientific study has revealed that 1 in 5 reptiles are threatened by extinction.

Reptiles are at risk because their habitats are being replaced by agriculture and urban development. However, reptiles are often ignored in conservation efforts because they’re seen as less friendly than furry mammals or feathery birds. The result is less money is spent on protecting them.

However, reptiles have an important role in our lives. They eat many rodents and insects that we consider to be pests.

By seeing the friendly and helpful side of reptiles, we can help change attitudes and conserve their numbers.

Tech Beat

And finally, it’s Tech Beat…

Some robots can walk, others can roll, and some can move like humans.

Now, engineers from Switzerland have developed a robot that can do all three. It can speed along like a car, walk on all fours, or even stand up on two wheels.

Engineers initially designed the robot for fun, but they soon realized that it has lots of useful applications. The robot can carry cargo, move across difficult terrain, and could be used in search and rescue operations.

Its engineers hope that, in the future, this robot will transform lives.
