Crazy skill: breathing air!
Crazy Skill:
Breathing Air
Crabs are usually found in the water, but coconut crabs are different!
They can’t swim or breathe underwater.
Instead, they’ve adapted to life on land, and breathe air using simple lungs.
These huge crabs come out at night and use their strong sense of smell to search for food.
They’ll eat pretty much anything.
From fruit… to dead animals.
And as you might have guessed from their name, they sometimes eat coconuts, which are everywhere in these jungles!
But eating coconuts is no easy task.
This crab drags its heavy meal back to its den, before using its powerful pincers to break it open and tuck in!
So how crazy is the coconut crab?
Well, it’s a crab that can’t swim, it breathes air, and it eats coconuts!
can’t swim
breathes air
eats coconuts
That’s really crazy!
